Composer - Musician - Audio Engineer - Festival Production Manager
Hello, I’m Ben Malley & I am a composer, audio engineer and performing musician with over a decade of experience in the music industry in and around Devon, UK. As a teenage rockstar wanna be, my formative years in the industry saw me cutting my teeth at Dart Music Festival (and others in beautiful Devon & Cornwall). Initially performing at DMF, I then moved onto engineering, stage management and rose to become production manager on the organising committee at the age of 17.
I consolidated this passion by studying at dBs Music / MarJons where I gained my 1st class BA Hons degree in Audio & Music Production. My studies also led me to present a TEDX talk in 2016 at the National Theatre in Oslo.
In my early 20’s I joined the fantastic Glas-Denbury Music & Arts Festival team with the wonderful Emma Twamley & Merryn Albon as the technical production manager. As a team we grew the festival from it’s humble beginnings to the award winning, multi-staged, sun-shiny experience it has become today.
In addition to the aforesaid, I am presently working as a freelance composer writing and producing broadcast quality music (anything from neo-classical to funk) for a range of clients, including contributing to the Universal Production Music catalogue on their label Energy Music. I am hugely grateful to Brian Burrows for the opportunities and guidance he has given me.
I am immensely proud of the experiences and laughs I’ve had, from organising music festivals alongside octogenarians to writing and producing a range of music with the most wonderful, delightful and fun people.
It will be hugely exciting to work with you and together, bring your ideas to audio excellence.
Ben M
